Fairchild MultiMap is a software toolkit (object library) with whichsoftware application developers can create powerful end-user mappingpackages. Under the direction of user applications, MultiMap interfaceswith geographic databases and overlay databases to present full-colormaps with application-specific annotation (lines, circles, text,ellipses, symbols, polygons, polylines, and arcs). MultiMap also has anumber of cartographic and special functions. These include range andbearing, coordinate transformations, point-to-point line-of-sight, arealine-of-sight, perspective views, terrain profile, maximum elevation, andothers. A utility package enables users to manage the geographicdatabases is also provided with the toolkit.In addition, the toolkit contains source code for an end-userapplication. Developers can tailor the end-user application to satisfyspecific requirements.Fairchild MultiMap is available for the SunView and the OpenWindowswindowing systems.
